This was the woman of the Aliʻi, the hereditary rulers of ancient Hawaiian society.

Pōhaku Hoʻohānau (birthing stone) and Pōhaku Piko (umbilical stone) are part of the Holoholokū Heiau complex in the park.

This was where high-ranking women would give birth. They would also and bury their afterbirth and umbilical cords at this sacred place.

If you know where to look, you can find ancient petroglyphs in the park.

The park also includes two scenic waterfalls: ‘Opaeka‘a Falls and Wailua Falls.

Walking through the park's Fern Grotto is an almost otherworldly experience.

The ancient Hawaiian people may have left this spot behind, but it is still a breathtaking place to explore and appreciate.
