The Alelele Falls Trail In Hawaii Is A Half-Mile Out-And-Back Hike With A Waterfall Finish
From towering cascades you can only witness via helicopter tour to short waterfalls that cascade into small pools you can swim in, the waterfalls you’ll find across the Hawaiian Islands are truly remarkable. And while we love the islands’ most famous waterfalls – including Akaka Falls, Wailua Falls, and Waimoku Falls – the little-known cascades you’ll find scattered across the Aloha State are truly worthy of adventure. Today, we’re showing off an off-the-beaten-path gem that is easy to reach and quite beautiful.

Perhaps the last of the Hana Highway’s waterfalls as you head east driving clockwise along the base of Mount Haleakala, Alelele Falls is a treasure just waiting to be uncovered.
Accessible via a super short, less than half-mile trail that will take you just 10 to 15 minutes to complete, this adventure is perfect if you’re short on time but still want to explore this area’s many stunning waterfalls.
The trail gets muddy after a rain, but that’s exactly when you want to visit this spot. Alelele Falls is at its finest after a rainstorm and there are a few stream crossings, so you’ll just want to wear shoes you can get muddy and wet.
Most people pass Alelele Falls on their way to or from the Kipahalu District of Haleakala National Park, which means you might just have this stunning spot to yourself.
Cascading 50 feet down a lush, green cliffside into a striking pool below, this seasonal waterfall is relatively unknown yet as pretty as a postcard – just the way we like it!
So, what are you waiting for? If you’re a fan of chasing waterfalls, you simply must add Alelele Falls to your Hawaii waterfalls bucket list, along with these 12 destinations. Have you seen the beauty of Alelele Falls for yourself before? Sound off in the comments!
