Washington, Georgia Is The Perfect Small Town For A Day Trip

Georgia is filled with beautiful, charming, and historical towns, all of which make up the fabric of this great southern state. Washington, Georgia is the county seat of Wilkes County and was established back in 1780. This makes it one of the oldest towns in the entire state.

Part of what makes this small town so special is the history. With the original name of Heard’s Fort, Washington was at a time designated as the state capital during the American Revolutionary War.

It also is noted to be the town where the Confederacy voted to dissolve itself, thus effectively bringing to an end the American Civil War.

Today, visitors make their way to Washington, Georgia for a unique day trip filled with fun things to do.
