There is a lot of love that Georgians have for their home state. Truth be told, Georgians are extremely proud of where they live, and whether they realize it or not, they may have some privileges that they don’t even realize are there. Whether it’s the privilege of having some of the best southern food in the country at every turn or the fact that you can make it from the coast to the mountains in just a few hours – living in Georgia offers some sweet perks.
1. We have nature trails and hiking opportunities galore.
Ahh, nature in Georgia. It’s a privilege to be in a state that has so much natural beauty for all to enjoy. Nature in Georgia is at every turn and what better way to enjoy it than with a hike! Georgians are able to hike up to Brasstown Bald for views in every direction, or hike through Cumberland Island and see wild horses roaming. It sure is special.
2. We are the birthplace of Coca-Cola and for that, the rest of the country will forever be in our debt.
Georgia is a pretty versatile state and anyone who thinks it’s a one-trick pony can just up and leave. Not only do we have all four seasons, but we also have pretty much every type of landscape you could hope for. Mountains. Beaches. Bamboo Forests. Cities. You name it, we have it.
Let’s be honest, Florida can sometimes be a bit of a mess. (Sorry, Floridians, we’re just speaking the truth). But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t redeeming qualities that Florida holds. For Georgians, it’s better to be able to visit and leave whenever we want, rather than have some of the chaos right in our backyard….ahem, spring break.
5. We have the privilege of having some of the best fried chicken, grits, hot biscuits, and fried green tomatoes around.
It is a privilege to dine in Georgia. Anyone who has spent time there understands this. The food that southerners produce is always extremely flavorful and unrivaled. From grits to fried chicken, collards, to macaroni and cheese, Georgians know how to cook and even better Georgians know how to eat.
6. You won’t experience autumn anywhere else as you do in Georgia.
There is a reason why people travel from all over the country to see the fall foliage in Georgia. Leaf-peepers will trek from the north down to this great state to see all of the vibrant colors in person. Autumn in Georgia is truly magic, and it’s worth checking out at least once in your lifetime.
That’s right, you don’t even need to leave the state in order to enjoy some natural wonders. In Georgia, we have seven. Seven! From Amicalola Falls to Providence Canyon, Warm Springs to Tallulah Gorge, it’s a privilege to see all of this natural beauty in person.
