This Little Known Nature Preserve In Georgia Is The Perfect Place To Get Away From It All

Many people aren’t too familiar with Wolf Creek Trout Lily Preserve in Cairo, Georgia. Which of course makes for the perfect place in the state to get away from it all. When you visit the preserve, you are completely immersed in nature, not to mention among the greatest concentration of trout lilies in the entire world. How about that for beauty?

The Preserve itself is more than 140 acres of undisturbed wildlife .

The land features a huge expanse of very rare trillium and 20-30 species of trout lilies.

Imagine, there is an extremely rare set of flowers blooming right in your home state, and you've never even seen them in person!

But it's not just the flora that people visiting Wolf Creek love...

...it's also the insects, reptiles, and wildlife that you'll find spotted along the trails that call this preserve home.

Nobody knows how these millions of rare flowers ended up in Southern Georgia.

One theory suggests that the seedlings migrated tens of thousands of years ago, around the time of the ice age.

Besides the flowers, what's awesome about this particular preserve is the fact that it's open year round for both hiking and observation.

Because of the nearly 50 million trout lilies found on the property, it's a must to bring a camera along for your adventure.

Blooming happens normally in February/March, but that doesn't mean there aren't lilies to be found year round.

Wolf Creek Trout Lily Preserve is the perfect place to get away from it all. You can find the preserve located off of US Hwy 84 approximately five miles west of Cairo and two miles east of Whigham, GA. The main entrance is on the east side of Wolf Creek Road.
