North Georgia is a beautiful place at any time of year, but it’s especially magical in the fall at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds. When the leaves start to change and the air gets that crisp bite to it, there’s no place better to go. The annual Fall Festival at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds is a blast, with music, events for kids, a craft show, plenty of live entertainment, and, of course, beautiful scenery to admire. It’s one of our favorite yearly events in the state and the perfect way to get in the autumn spirit! The 2023 festival is scheduled for October 6 through 14, opening daily at 11:00 a.m. Let’s check it out.

Fall Fun In Georgia

What are some things to do in Georgia in the fall?

This list of 12 picture-perfect fall day trips to take in Georgia is a start. Here are a few highlights.

  • Burt’s Farm (5 Burts Pumpkin Farm Rd, Dawsonville, GA): Grab your friends and celebrate autumn at a beautiful farm in Georgia. Hidden in the Georgia Mountains, Burt's Farm offers pumpkins from one pound to more than 150 pounds. The hay ride highlights a view of the breathtaking Amicalola Falls and fields of lovely flowers along the way, where you'll also hear a story of two famous pumpkins. Get some fresh air and make plans to visit Burt's Farm.
  • Buford Corn Maze (4470 Bennett Rd, Buford, GA): The activities that are included in this corn maze are too extensive to list here, but we can see why it has been named in Country Living as one of the best corn mazes in the country. Some of the fun on these pretty five acres is a cornball slider, pedal karts, a haunted forest, delicious eats, and some meetings with adorable farm animals.
  • Fall Foliage: Autumn in Georgia arrives in mid-October with scattered patches of color. Later in the month through early November, the peak hues are vivid, offering beautiful countrysides, parks, and forested trails. This picturesque fall activity is free. Pack a picnic for breakfast or lunch, and locate a spot or take this fall foliage road trip in Georgia.
