What are the best places to live in Georgia?

Georgia is a beautiful state with many cities and towns that have been called some of the best places in the United States to live. There are some towns that are exceedingly safe, and they take the cake for the best places to live in Georgia. For example, Summerville, Georgia, has a violent crime rate of less than 1 (.23) per 1,000 residents, and an overall crime rate of 9 per 1,000 residents when it comes to property crime. A close second is the cozy town of Milton, with an awesomely low crime rate of less than one (.26) violent crimes per 1,000 residents. If you don’t mind leaving city life behind and want to move to a Georgia town with plenty of small-town charm but lots of safety, you really can’t go wrong.

What is living in Georgia like?

Whether you’re a big fan of living in the big city or if you couldn’t live anything but that country life, Georgia is a beautiful place to live. We’re surrounded by lush forests and woodlands, and we rank as the 11th most affordable state in the US to live in. Winters tend to be short, and mostly mild, though occasionally there will be a deep freeze or a cold snap. In the spring, Georgia is prone to severe weather, so make sure to have a plan, just in case – though your chances of ever being in a major storm are fairly low. The nights are cool and during the summer the days can be quite hot and very humid, so drink plenty of water! Here are some of our picks for why living in Georgia is just the best.

What are the risks of living in Georgia?

Well, that depends on what you mean by “risks”! If you consider things like the potential for severe weather a risk, then yes, there are certainly risks to living here. When it comes to overall crime rates, Georgia is right about average; depending on where you decide to take up residence, those odds could increase or decrease. There are some towns in Georgia, like Summerville or Milton, that are significantly safer than most places in the entire country. At worst, we really just feel like maybe the biggest risk one faces while living here is getting unbelievably hot in the summertime when humidity levels are nuts. Now, those days are no fun, but no worries – there are plenty of swimming holes around to cool off in.
