All aboard! Next stop: Franks Diner, a cozy railcar diner in Kenosha.
Franks Diner has been a Kenosha staple since 1926, when it was pulled by six horses to its current location on 58th Street.
In 1935, a small dining area was added to the railcar to accommodate the growing number of patrons frequenting Franks. And in the 1940s, the kitchen was expanded.
Other than renovations decades ago, the diner hasn’t changed much. Inside, you’ll find several nods to its former life as a railcar.
And though decades have passed since Franks first opened its doors, the diner’s popularity hasn’t dwindled in the least bit. In fact, it’s not uncommon for the diner to have a line out the door on weekends.
Despite Franks’ fame, the food hasn’t wavered. The menu boasts the ultimate selection of comfort food – 95% of which is homemade.
Chow down on everything from your favorite breakfast dishes and beefed up sandwiches to…
…signature creations, like the Garbage Plate. Available in whole and half portions, the delectable dish includes five eggs, hash browns, green peppers, onions, up to five meats, and up to five cheeses.
Hearty helpings are another standard at Franks Diner. Regardless of what you order, you can count on a portion size that’s sure to please.
Serving up hearty helpings of homemade comfort food, it's easy to see why Wisconsinites are obsessed with Franks Diner!
