The real estate market in northern Door County had been red hot, with even modest cottages selling for a small fortune. Want a view of the lake? You had better be prepared to spend a small fortune. Fortunately, there’s a place where you can enjoy one of the best views in Door County, and you’ll only pay the price of a good meal. Here’s why you need to head north to the Shoreline Restaurant.
While the food is wonderful, the real treat here is the view. The restaurant’s large windows offer a sweeping view of the bay that you won’t forget. And there’s no mortgage required!
To find this special restaurant, head to Door County and drive north until you can’t drive any further. You’ll find yourself at the water’s edge, and you’ll have two options: buy a ferry ticket or dine at the Shoreline.
Thursdays include offerings like Mama’s spaghetti and maple salmon. Just be sure to save room for a slice of Door County cherry pie!
The food is wonderful, and it’s a great place to enjoy a classic Wisconsin fish fry – just make plans to stop in on a Wednesday night. You’ll have a lot of nice options, including local whitefish.
A ferry ride can wait. The Shoreline is one of Door County’s best dining spots, and when you step inside, you’ll see why.
The Gills Rock restaurant has been around a long time. The current owners purchased the property in 1990 and transformed it into a destination venue and a spot for homestyle gourmet food and wine. Many special events and celebrations are held at the shoreline, and on other nights, the restaurant is open to the public.
The Shoreline is open seasonally – check out Shoreline Restaurant's website for the latest hours, and if it happens to be closed, the trip to the end of the peninsula is beautiful – you can take in the view and dream of the Shoreline’s chowder! While you’re up to dine at the Shoreline, you can also experience Wisconsin’s windiest road.
