Old Dominion may be far from Mexico, but that doesn't mean you can't get great Mexican food in Virginia. We have a number of great restaurants that serve up nachos, tacos, and burritos that are extraordinarily delicious. One unassuming spot that looks a little unusual on the outside is The Sub Station in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Located in a former Waffle House, it doesn't look much like most Mexican restaurants in the state - and that's because it's truly one of a kind! Though they specialize in tasty traditional Mexican dishes like burritos, quesadillas, and fajitas, this eatery also dishes up a wide variety of sub options.
Originally opened as The Sub Station and Ricos Tacos, The Sub Station has been around for over a decade now.
Their focus is on providing quality food using fresh ingredients. Whether you opt for a sub or Mexican dish, you know you're getting good food that's prepared in front of you.
There's an almost overwhelming number of burrito options, with vegetarian choices as well as fish and/or meat.
They've even got breakfast burritos!
The quesadillas come in just as many varieties, and all are grilled fresh after you order.
If you prefer something a little more Americanized, that's no problem. They've got subs (as the name implies), burgers, and fries (which you can also get in a burrito... yum!).
If this doesn't have you drooling, you may want to get your eyes checked.
And of course, what would a visit to a Mexican restaurant in Virginia be without a delicious margarita to finish it off?
