When it comes to barbecue, there's no state that does it better than Tennessee. Of course, we have our rivals (we see you North Carolina!), but in the southern Tennessee town of Ooltewah right outside of Chattanooga, there's a small, local joint that's regaled locals with delicious meals since 1946. Couch's Barbecue is a true southern establishment. You show up here for decadent meals with low prices and a whole lot of hospitality. If you haven't been, it's a Chattanooga-must.
Couch's Barbecue has been serving up real pit barbeque to the folks of Chattanooga, Tennessee since 1946. Yep, that means this local eatery is coming up on almost 75 years of deliciously cooked up meat and sides. It's quite the legend!
The family-owned business began in March of 1946 as a roadside cafe that focused on great meats and providing delicious meals to those who would soon become faithful customers.
The barbecue on the menu is cooked on a brick pit and is both hand-turned and basted with the classic Couch's BBQ recipe.
On the menu, you can order everything from oinion rings, cheese sticks, and fried pickles as appetizers...
...to decadent platters of ribs and smoked pork served with three sides and a roll. No one leaves hungry from Couch's!
Of course, the classic burgers and sandwiches like fried bologna and toasted cheese are also decadent and highly recommended. Every sandwich is under $6 as well, so you can stick to your budget while indulging!
Couch's is closed on Mondays and Sundays, but from Tuesday to Saturday you can visit from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. This is one eatery you won't want to miss!
Address: 8307 Old Lee Highway, Ooltewah, TN 37363
