Who says you can't have pie for dinner? Or, start your meal with a scrumptious piece of pie before you order your entree? Well, whatever way you order your pie - even if you save it for the traditional dessert - you're in for a treat that will blow your taste buds away at this historic Pennsylvania restaurant. The only other question that remains is what type of pie will you order?
Feel right at home at The Tavern on the Square, a cozy restaurant nestled in the heart of Amish country.
The historic tavern, which once served as a stop on the Underground Railroad, first opened in 1849. And, today, it boasts five themed dining rooms, a gift shop, a bakery, and a Victorian tea room.
So, pull up a chair and sit down to a delightful meal. Starting with the meal before the pie? How about kicking your meal off with a homemade soup like wedding soup, French onion soup, or the soup of the day?
Then, choose one of the scrumptious entrees, such as the chicken and biscuits, a ham loaf, homemade pierogies, or roasted red pepper chicken.
Or, perhaps you prefer a home-style pot roast or roasted chicken?
Of course, all that good eatin' is leading up to why you've come to this historic Pennsylvania restaurant ...dessert! The Tavern on the Square is famous for its sticky buns and...
Pies. The question is: What kind will you choose? Coconut cream and peanut butter are among your choices.
And, don't forget to take a look at the other scrumptious desserts: hot apple dumpling, bread pudding, and molten lava chocolate cake.
Sit down to a scrumptious slice of pie - and a meal, of course - at The Tavern on the Square, open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Or, stop by Sunday between 11:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
