Oklahoma has already reached record highs in February and people are acting like it's summer. From shorts and flip-flops to ice cream and air-conditioning, this Oklahoma heat wave has us all looking for ways to cool down. And what better way is there than indulging in a big scoop of ice cream? We found the perfect place to go for ice cream that will rock your world - Rose Rock Microcreamery - a tiny ice cream shop at the Boxyard in Tulsa that creates homemade ice cream that is to die for. Check it out and see which flavors tickle your fancy.
Rose Rock Microcreamery is located in one of Tulsa's newest shopping malls -
The Boxyard.
The Boxyard is located in the East Village of Downtown Tulsa. All stores in the micro-mall are comprised of repurposed shipping containers. The mall offers stunning views of downtown Tulsa and an outside sitting area to sit outside and enjoy your ice cream.
Rose Rock is the first Microcreamery in Oklahoma and just opened in 2017. It's already becoming a favorite spot for the locals.
So, what is a Microcreamery? It's a creamery that only uses all natural, locally sourced ingredients to create a variety of flavors. They typically only produce less than 1,000 gallons a year and are locally owned.
Every batch of ice cream is handmade with only two gallons of ice cream at a time.
The Rose Rock Microcreamery was named after the Oklahoma state flower and is locally-owned and operated.
Making small batches at a time allows them to rotate their flavors often. You'll always find the classics like vanilla and chocolate, but new flavors are always introduced to intrigue your palette.
Doesn't the ice cream look so creamy?
Not sure what flavor to choose? Don't worry, you can always sample any flavor at Rose Rock.
Here's a list of some of the flavors that you might find on the menu: Madagascar Vanilla, Just Chocolate, Sage Salted Pecan, Lemongrass Sorbet, Mission Fig and Chestnut Honey, Rose Rock and Salted Cracked Caramel.
Since every batch is handcrafted in small amounts, the ice cream has low air and more cream.
You'll also notice the ice cream won't have all those ice crystals like large batch ice cream.
The ice cream is served in cups or you can choose the upgraded waffle cone for only one dollar more.
The menu also has sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, large pints, soda, hot fudge and caramel and whipped cream.
Rose Rock Microcreamery is located at 502 East 3rd Street, Tulsa, OK 74120.
Hours of Operation: 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Who's ready to cool down with this delicious homemade ice cream? I think I'll start with the Cookies & Cream flavor!
