Cleveland and candy go hand in hand. Sure, the entire region is a super sweet place to call home, but it's also overflowing with candy factories and shops that will make your sweet tooth go wild. If you have a craving for something sweet, you simply must check out these awesome sweet shops in and around The Land:
1. b.a. Sweetie Candy Company (6770 Brookpark Rd., Cleveland)
Locals love Sweeties, and for good reason! At any given time, their ginormous warehouse is jam-packed with $3 million worth of sweets. That's half a million pounds, for those who are wondering. I'm sure you can imagine why Sweeties has served Cleveland for nearly 70 years!
2. Fantasy Candies Chocolate Factory (5338 Mayfield Rd., Lyndhurst)
Nobody does Wine Wednesday quite like Fantasy Candies! This chocolate shop specializes in all sorts of unique goods, from their iconic wine bottles to SweetDreams 72, their own creation and arguably the most decadent chocolate on earth. Fantasy Chocolates prove that the only limit is the imagination, and all sorts of sweet discoveries await visitors.
3. Campbell's Sweets Factory (424 Superior Ave., Cleveland)
Hidden in the gorgeous environment of The Arcade is a charming little shop that's simply too sweet to pass up. Campbell's Sweets Factory also has stores in Lakewood and Ohio City and, of course, at their original location in the West Side Market. The first shop opened in 2004, but the family legacy of making delectable popcorn and other goodies goes back decades. Whatever kind of gourmet treat you're craving, you can find it here at this super sweet place.
4. Chocolate 76 - Handmade Chocolates (530 Euclid Ave. Suite A, Cleveland)
Editor's note: Unfortunately, this chocolate store in downtown Cleveland is permanently closed.
Summer has arrived in the heart of Downtown Cleveland, a fact that means your favorite handcrafted chocolate store will now be featuring confections that are almost too cute to eat. Truffles, chocolate covered Oreo cookies, and other handmade delicacies await visitors in a petite 180-square-foot space at this quaint sweet shop.
5. Malley's Chocolates (14822 Madison Ave., Lakewood)
No, you haven't fallen down the rabbit hole, but you have discovered chocolate wonderland! The Lakewood Malley's location is picture-perfect with its charming Alice in Wonderland decor and vintage soda fountain. This is, of course, in addition to oodles of sweet treats lining the shelves. Come with an appetite, because you'll want to fill up on both ice cream and chocolates.
6. Mitchell's Fine Chocolates (2285 Lee Rd., Cleveland Heights)
For nearly 80 years, this delectable company has been serving Clevelanders sweet treats while preserving the legacy of European chocolatiers in the region. This candy shop was founded by Greek immigrant Christ Mitchell, who originally opened the shop as a neighborhood soda fountain. His wife Penelope purportedly remembered everyone's names and favorite treats. Today, their legacy is continued by Jason and Emily Hallaman, two locals that grew up eating the company's delectable confections and wanting to continue to delight customers for years to come.
7. Fear's Confections (15208 Madison Ave., Lakewood)
Rockabilly, vintage elegance, and a flair for the dramatic interact to create the incredible environment of this charming little candy shop in Lakewood. Owner Cassandra Fear made sweets from home for nearly a decade, but the storefront is still fairly young, having opened in August 2013. Here, you'll uncover classic sweet treats like caramels and turtles, as well as a few goodies that will delight your inner geek. These are some treats you truly need to see to believe, so take a sneak peek on the website here.
8. Lilly Handmade Chocolates (2032 W. Schaaf Rd., Cleveland)
Editor's note: Unfortunately, this candy shop is no longer open.
This pretty little candy shop has long been a fixture in the Tremont neighborhood, but they've recently made a move to Old Brooklyn and will be reopening in early July 2018. They are shifting their focus solely to confections, and as you enter the new space you will find yourself immersed in their chocolate laboratory. If you haven't tried this decade-old business, you simply must pay them a visit at the new location. Their confections are too sweet to pass up!
9. Chocolates By Erin (1314 S. Erie St. Suite B, Massillon)
Erin Rohr began making sweets over two decades ago, but Chocolates By Erin is still a fairly young business. It began in April 2012 and has already gained a solid following, thanks in part to designer chocolate barks that are absolutely to die for. Old Fashioned Peanut Brittle, White Chocolate Key Lime Bark, and Maple Nut Opera Fudge are some of Erin's specialties and, like all of the goodies in this sweet shop, everything is made by hand. I hope your sweet tooth is ready because the options at this charming little sweet shop will have you craving more!
Cleveland is a fantastic little town, but it's particularly sweet to people with cravings for confections. If you ever find your sweet tooth begging for a treat in Greater Cleveland, you simply must swing by these incredible candy stores. Which sweet destination is your favorite?
