If there's one thing you learn while living in - or being from - North Carolina, it's just how delicious the BBQ is here in the Tar Heel State. All over the state there are countless opportunities to partake in the delicious unofficial state meat and most connoisseurs are adventurous enough to try to them all, especially the establishments located on less traveled roads like the one below.
The Tin Shed is a walk-up establishment located roadside only a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The BBQ is dry rubbed, marinated and then slow cooked for 20 hours and the result is a melt-in-your-mouth flavorful sensation. Pair it with a couple of seasonal sides like mac and cheese and fresh local greens (in season) for the complete package.
Get it platter-style or on a fresh roll and piled high with goodness!
The walk-up window has convenient seating on site with never-ending views of the scenic surround.
The menu contains a wide variety of other delicious choices including burgers, hot dogs, and desserts — including milkshakes!
Folks who stop at The Tin Shed just know they're leaving full and satisfied. Have you discovered this roadside BBQ shanty yet?
It's a perfect side trip for a bite to eat when you're exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway between Blowing Rock and Little Switzerland.
To get there from the Blue Ridge Parkway, just take the Altapass Highway at McKinney Gap. The address for Tin Shed is 2598 Altapass Hwy., Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
