It seems that North Carolinians REALLY do love our small restaurants. My last article did so well, I thought - hey, why not give credit to more amazing places found throughout the state? Because there really are so many. Also, my readers have some of the BEST suggestions which I made sure to include on this second article. Y'all ready for supper?
1. Melvin's, Elizabethtown
Burger lovers, rejoice, if the above picture isn't enough proof for you...you'll have a big impression from this small restaurant.
2. Merritt's Burger House, Wilmington
Speaking of burgers, Merritt's has a charming and vintage facade...with a back in time feel. But the burgers are amazing and the experience even better.
3. Captain's Corner, Kinston
This small town is home to some of the best hot dogs you'll find in North Carolina. You must try a 'Carolina Style,' AKA all the way.
4. PB'S Takeout, Winston-Salem
Since we're on the subject of hot dogs, if you're in the triad area...this little take out joint in the Ardmore neighborhood is perfect for a greasy pick-me-up.
5. Lafayette Lunch Box, Shelby
If you're looking for a great sub - steak and cheese, italian, meatball...pop in and order one right from the window. Lafayette Lunch Box does not disappoint!
6. Yana's, Swansboro
Yana's is a tight squeeze, but you really can't beat the decor, breakfast, and the fritters.
7. Merritt's Store & Grill, Chapel Hill
Yes, another Merritt's makes the list - this one in Chapel Hill. You'll find some of the best sandwiches ever here like pimento cheese or the classic BLT.
8. Bill's Hot Dogs, Washington
If you prefer your hot dogs with a waterside view, come to Bill's. Located in the quaint coastal town of Washington, this is a no-frills joint that has simply great food.
9. Yadkin Dairy Freeze, Yadkinville
I can't leave out the sweets, and Yadkin Dairy freeze has the perfect trio of burgers, dogs and amazing ice cream. The perfect place for lunch and a tasty treat on a hot summer day.
10. Ward's Grill, Whiteville
If there's any universal message to this list, it's that greasy food rules. No better way to end the list than end with the tiny but delicious Melvin's. The space is tight, but the burgers are greasy and delicious!
Well, I'm officially starving! Luckily we live in a state that is abundant with amazing food! Did your favorite make the list? Any other tiny restaurants you absolutely love in North Carolina?
