If you're looking to dive into a more delicious part of history though, then don't worry, because we're here to let you in a little secret that will make your stomach rumble.
Now known as the Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs, the historic building that you see standing before you today in Congress Park was once known as the Saratoga Club House.
Readers of Only In New York may already be familiar with the fact that Saratoga is known to be quite delicious when it comes to inventions, previously highlighting how this city is the birthplace of the potato chip. Well, we're here to tell you this wasn't the only tasty thing that was created here in town.
During the 1800s, the Saratoga Club House was one of the most popular places to visit in town, with people driving from all over to enjoy the gambling parlor here at this venue, but another reason why people enjoyed coming here so much was because of the food.
Rumor has it, back in 1894, the Saratoga Club House's kitchen was where the beloved Club Sandwich came to be.
Spreading across the city's gambling tables and quickly becoming a hit among anyone who had the pleasure of getting their hands on this sandwich, the tradition of the Club Sandwich was passed on all throughout the rest of the country.
Originating right here in this historic Saratoga building that's still standing today, who knew the Canfield Casino where was the Club Sandwich all started?
