When growing up in Montana, your exact definition of "pasties" (or "pastys") might be a bit different than most. They’re not tasseled adhesives in this case, but hearty, savory meat pies, and they’re delicious. If you’re looking to try them, start at one of these amazing places that serve up the best pasties in Montana!
1. Wind’s Pasties, Anaconda
Since 1959, Wind's has been serving scrumptious pasties in historic Anaconda. Their menu items are all natural and made from local ingredients! Come see why this is one of our favorite restaurants in Montana of all time.
2. Stone of Accord, Missoula
At Stone of Accord, you can order mini pasties (shown here) or the Stone Pasties meal: a flaky puff pastry filled with shredded beef, potato, onion and carrots, served with champs and Guinness gravy. This also happens to be one of our favorite places to eat in Montana, too.
3. Truzzolino Tamales, Butte
Have we mentioned Butte is a paradise for pasty fans? Truzzolino Tamales makes excellent Mexican food, but their pasties are their crowning glory. You can even get them frozen and enjoy them later.
Pasties didn't originate in Montana (or even on this continent), but they have become one of our staples. Another, thankfully, is huckleberries. Here's where to get some of the best huckleberry dishes in the Treasure State.
