It’s that glorious time of year where we will start seeing festivals pop up around the city every weekend. In just a few short weeks we will be graced with a delicious taco festival that you just can’t miss. Let’s check it out.
Top Taco returns for its third year next month, and you’re not going to want to miss it. This might just be the most delicious festival in New Orleans.
General Admission is $75 and includes unlimited tacos and cocktails, tequila tastings, and four voting chips. There will be live music, lounge areas, and all the tacos and tequila you can eat.
Over 50 different chefs and mixologists will be competing for bragging rights and top honors. You’ll have the opportunity to vote for your favorites in four categories: Top Creative Taco, Top Traditional Taco, Top Margarita, and Top Creative Cocktail.
Be sure to come hungry (and thirsty) because you’ll be feasting on some incredibly creative tacos you just won’t find anywhere else. Cowbell, Central City BBQ, Lucy’s Retired Surfer’s Bar, Johnny Sanchez, and Tchoup Yard are just a few of the restaurants competing this year.
New Orleans is no stranger to the paranormal, that’s for sure. Our more than 300-year-old city comes with a ghostly tale or two from just about every building in the French Quarter. If you’re a believer in the spiritual realm, then you may want to pay a visit to Muriel’s Jackson Square, a haunted restaurant in New Orleans, for an unforgettable dining experience.

Located in historic Jackson Square, Muriel’s has been a popular French Quarter eatery since it opened in 2001.
The carriageway at Muriel’s dates back to the 1700s, and many believe that it was used to hold slaves when they came off the boats, leading many to think that there are still a few troubled spirits left to wander the carriageway.
One of the most popular spirits is that of Mr. Pierre Antoine Lepardi Jourdan.
Mr. Jourdan purchased the property in the late 1700s after the Great New Orleans Fire destroyed many buildings in the area, including a portion of this particular mansion.
Jourdan spent the next few years building the home of his dreams.
Until one night in 1814 when he wagered his dream home in a poker bet. He lost the hand, and was faced with losing his home. Rather than see his beloved home in the hands of someone else, he tragically committed suicide in the home. It’s believed that he killed himself in the same area where the Seance Lounges are situated (pictured above).
So if you find yourself in this area and feel something you can’t explain, it might just be Mr. Jourdan checking in.
Patrons and employees have had many unexplained phenomena over the years.
Believing that Mr. Jourdan never left his dream home, the folks at Muriel’s welcome this old spirit and always keep a table reserved for Mr. Jourdan. You can even reserve the “ghost table” for yourself. Mr. Jourdan doesn’t seem to mind sharing the table.

For a walk back in time that will put a smile on your face and remind you of old New Orleans, stop by Liuzza’s on Bienville. The gumbo alone will not disappoint.
Pelican Bay was a go-to place for sports fans, serving up delicious cocktails and daiquiris in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Locals loved the nachos! (Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, Pelican Bay is no longer in operation.)
This gem of a soul food restaurant offered amazing lunch and dinner plates with awesome sides and a whole lot of flavor. The friendly atmosphere put it over the top. (Editor's Note: Unfortunately, Kayla's Restaurant has closed its doors for good.)
