New Orleans hasn't always been very well known for BBQ. With all of the other cuisine available here, it's easy to understand why. But over the past few years with the fine dining explosion here, we've slowly been developing some truly amazing BBQ joints in New Orleans. Here are some of the best BBQ joints in New Orleans that all have amazing meats and sides.
1) The Joint, 701 Mazant St.
This bywater BBQ staple wows the crowds with their funky decor and reliable, juicy BBQ. The ribs are so tender they fall right off the bone.
2) Saucy’s BBQ, 4200 Magazine St.
With generous portions of brisket and a wide variety of creative and delicious sauces, you can't go wrong at this spot.
3) Blue Oak BBQ, 900 N. Carrollton Ave.
The variety of meats and sides here aim to please at this mid-city joint that used to be hidden inside of Chickie-Wah-Wah. The brussel sprouts are particularly special.
4) Ms. Hysters BBQ, 2000 S Claiborne Ave.
This down home hideaway could be easy to overlook--but you'd be missing out. There's some amazing spare ribs here that are hickory smoked with just the right amount of sweetness.
5) Twelve Mile Limit
This mid-city bar serves up BBQ well into the night, which is perfect if you're looking for a snack in the later hours. The meat does not disappoint, and who would have guessed that underneath all the goodness pictured here are amazing tater tots?
6) Bar B Q Kings, 2164 Milton St.
A gentilly spot right near Dillard's campus has become the go-to spot for many students and neighbors. Their juicy meats and special sauces will simply blow your mind.
7) Voodoo BBQ & Grill, 1501 St. Charles Ave.
Now a fairly large chain, Voodoo BBQ serves up favorites with a spicy New Orleans kick.
8) Moe’s Original Bar B Que, 3150 Calhoun St.
A newer spot on the New Orleans BBQ scene, Moe's offers delicious and creative sides along with awesome meats.
9) Fred’s BBQ & Soul Food, 3336 S Claiborne Ave.
There is such a variety of delicious foods here it's hard to focus on just the BBQ--but you should because the way they smoke their meats is simply divine.
10) McClure’s BBQ, 3001 Tchoupitoulas St.
After moving to their new location, McClure's has captured the hearts of many New Orleanians for their awesome approach to BBQ and more creative dishes like brisket poutine.
