As a general rule in Kentucky, just because a restaurant is hidden away or not easily viewed, does not mean it is a less than stellar place to eat. Such is the case in the small town of Auburn, southwest of Bowling Green. Federal Grove is a restaurant so lovely that you'll think it's straight out of a storybook. The history, charm, and soul-filling food served at this secluded restaurant surely place it near the top of the must-try list in Kentucky.
The story of Federal Grove, a restaurant and B&B in Auburn, Kentucky, dates all the way back to 1775.
A federal land grant was given to General Jonathan Clark, the eldest brother to William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The grant offered General Clark ten thousand acres, of which Federal Grove was a part. The land changed hands a few times over the years until 1991 when Wayne and Terry Blythe purchased it with the goal of restoring it and turning it into a Bed and Breakfast.
Today, the property runs as a full service B&B and southern style restaurant.
There are four rooms available through the Bed & Breakfast, each of which is tastefully decorated and full of charm. Breakfast is included with your stay and will be just one of the highlights of your visit.
This secluded haven also serves lunch and dinner with reservations recommended.
Lunch is served Thursday - Saturday, 11am to 2pm and the menu includes scrumptious options like sandwiches, salads, and the popular meat and two sides option.
Dinner is served family style and reservations are available Thursday - Saturday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A family style dining experience is perfect for this southern restaurant as you are treated as if you are a part of the family. Three meats, four vegetables, and two salads are served on platters and in bowls and include some of the best tasting classics you'll ever try. The roast beef and catfish melt in your mouth and the sides are freshly made from scratch. Save room for dessert, which is always a memorable sweet treat.

This classic, southern style restaurant is as friendly and inviting as it gets and each detail - from the perfectly set tables to the slices of pie - adds to the unforgettable dining experience.
