While we love down-home style cooking that feels like your grandma could've made it, one of the best advances of the last decade or so is how Southern cuisine has become even more refined. You'll now find it at more elegant restaurants, and while it still tastes as good as your grandma used to make, you'll find new flavors and different dishes that manage to make it even more special. One of our favorite places to grab a more upscale version of Southern food is Roc South Cuisine in Brookhaven, GA.

Roc South opened up in late 2019. It was difficult for even veteran restaurants to survive the pandemic, so it's quite impressive that Roc South thrived through the last few difficult years.

This place offers a great middle ground between a casual eatery and fine dining.

The restaurant specializes in Southern goodies, like fried chicken sandwiches and homemade lemonade.

Of course, you can also expect drool-worthy sides, like collard greens and black-eyed peas cooked with smoked turkey, mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes.

In case everything we just mentioned doesn't sound amazing enough, Roc South also serves seafood.

You can't have a Southern restaurant without grits. Stop by for Sunday brunch and enjoy shrimp and grits, lobster and grits, or fish and grits.

If the weather's cooperative, enjoy a meal on the patio for a nice al fresco dining experience.

Whether you're enjoying lamb and eggs for brunch (pictured below) or blackened salmon Alfredo for dinner, everything on this diverse menu is absolutely delicious.
