There is nothing we love more when exploring the food scene in Florida than coming across a place that locals rave about and will literally stand in line for hours until the restaurant runs out of food. This is the case with Isabel's in Miami. This coveted food spot has showcased what they're made of for over a year at the Coconut Grove Farmers Market, amassing a cult-like following looking to feast on one particular item - The Chicken Sandwich. However, while you're probably expecting piled-high fried chicken, there is a secret ingredient that you likely would not have guessed.

Isabel’s Miami is a hotspot serving up delicious cuisine to patrons who have fallen in love with the minimal menu and HUGE flavor.
Run by sibling duo Lauren and Adrian, Isabel’s is a family affair that has garnered attention from South Floridians looking for the ultimate comfort food.
While the Chicken Sandwich on the menu is what created the buzz in the first place, it’s the secret ingredient that has many minds blown.
The chicken on the sandwich isn’t even chicken at all, it’s actually a deep-fried Oyster mushroom that is what makes this sandwich pop.
That’s right, Isabel’s Miami is a plant-based foodie spot that focuses on mushrooms being the secret ingredient to many of their beloved food items.
Just picture a breaded, seasoned, and fried Oyster mushroom wedged between a vegan buttery brioche bun, and topped with chipotle mayo, cashew ranch, lettuce, and pickles.
The thing about oyster mushrooms is that when prepared a certain way, there is a meaty texture to them, that many people can’t differentiate from meat products. Also, did we mention that EVERYTHING on this menu is made from scratch?! From the sauces to the meat replacements.
Isabel’s originally offered up Saturday morning eats at the Coconut Grove Farmers Market…
…but now they recently became part of the line-up for the famous food extravaganza known as Smorgasburg Miami.
So the next time you have a hankering for a giant chicken sandwich without all of the chicken, Isabel’s has you covered. Just be prepared to never want another sandwich with real chicken again.
