There is just nothing like a day at the beach, especially along our scenic California coast. Some of the most beautiful and least-crowded beaches in Southern California are in Ventura County between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Despite living over an hour away when I was younger, and having much closer and more popular choices, these Gold Coast beaches were my favorite, and still are. If you are planning to spend the day along this beautiful stretch of shoreline, fuel up for fun in the sun at this hidden Oxnard restaurant.
Hidden away in a quiet residential beach neighborhood between a couple of other small businesses, and just a half block from the sand, the Hollywood Beach Cafe is popular with locals in the know.
The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, perfect for starting your day with a full belly.
Whether your *early in the day* vibe is sweet or savory, you will find something delightful on the menu. Craving savory? Try Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, Try Tip and Eggs, or a build-your-own omelet.
Or combine sweet and savory with fried chicken and waffles or a classic breakfast combo!
On the sweet side, choose from golden waffles, pancakes, and French toast.
If just a little sweet doesn’t quite do it for you, try Hollywood Beach Cafe creations like Churros and French toast or King’s Pancakes - fit for “The King” with chocolate chips, peanut butter, and bananas. If you know, you know.
There is really never a bad time for tacos, especially when they are these incredibly delicious breakfast tacos, which I highly recommend.
These tacos are stuffed with chorizo, bell pepper, cheese, eggs, avocado, cilantro, and an aioli drizzle that takes them over the top. They deserve a chef’s kiss!
If you are feeling more like a hearty lunch than breakfast, order one of the cafe’s signature sandwiches or juicy burgers. I love that you don’t have to pay extra to choose onion rings instead of French fries.
For lunch, you can also enjoy fresh fish, nachos, a Fajita bowl, Mexican Pozole, or a Mango Chicken Salad - just to name a few options.
After brunch, you can walk a few steps to one of the most pristine beaches in the area, or explore any of the other wonderful spots nearby.
Compliment your breakfast, brunch, or lunch with virtually any beverage you can think of - coffee, tea, cappuccino, fresh juice, a Bougie Most (mimosa flight), Bloody Mary, wine, beer, or your favorite cocktail from the full bar.
After all, you don’t even have to drive to the beach!
After a meal at this brunch spot, a hidden Oxnard restaurant, you will be ready for a fantastic day on the shore. Have you ever eaten at Hollywood Beach Cafe? Tell us what you think in the comments.
