Tarpon Springs is a small city of around 23,000 people in Pinellas County. With the highest percentage of Greek Americans in the country, it’s the closest you can get to a vacation in Greece without leaving the U.S.
This picturesque town only 30 minutes from Tampa is full of history and fun. It's called the Sponge Capital of the World, and when you visit you'll immediately see why.
Visitors to this town feel like they've been transported to a Greek village when strolling by the sponge docks, Greek restaurants and shops.

On the waterfront, you will find several bakeries and boutiques with amazing, authentic food and unique gifts and souvenirs.

Tarpon Springs also has a rich history as a Victorian vacation spot, with stunning architecture throughout the downtown and Spring Bayou areas.
The town is also celebrated for its many festivals that attract visitors from all over the country. The biggest is the January 6th Epiphany where boys dive into the water to search for the Epiphany Cross, but there are events here year-round.
