Philanthropy.com. The data given was for 2012 and broken down by metropolitan statistical areas. It says Floridians gave 3.38% of their adjusted gross incomes to charity, which translates to $11,144,250,000. But which cities in Florida gave the most?
10. Panama City/Lynn Haven/Panama City Beach
With a giving ratio of 3.68% of their adjusted gross incomes, and a total contribution of $73,412,000, these cities made the number 10 spot on our list. Great job guys!
9. Pensacola/Ferry Pass/Brent
The Pensacola metropolitan area donated a total of $188,497,000, which was 3.74% of its total adjusted gross income. The Emerald Coast sure is gave a lot of green.
Gainesville gave 3.79%, for a total of $115,990,000. Who knew college students could be so generous?
Ocala gave $120,494,000, which was equal to 3.82% of its adjusted gross income. Great job, Ocala!
6. Crestview/Fort Walton
These cities earned the number 6 spot by giving 3.87% of their adjusted gross incomes, for a total of $102,930,000. Folks in these small cities have big hearts.
5. Naples-Marco Island
Coming in at number 5, the Naples-Marco Island metropolitan area gave 3.97% of its adjusted gross income, a whopping $663,456,000!
Jacksonville residents reached deep in their pockets and gave 4.08% of their adjusted gross incomes, for a total of $963,375,000. Though not the highest percentage, it was the highest dollar amount on our list!
With a giving ratio of 4.22% of their adjusted gross income, and a total contribution of $183,064,000, Tallahassee made the number 3 spot on our list. As our state capital, we're glad it's high on the list.
