1. Ameilia Island Light, Fernandina Beach

This iconic lighthouse has been one of the most extraordinary Florida landmarks since 1838.
2. Fowey Rocks Lighthouse, Key Biscayne

This lighthouse is located seven miles southeast of Cape Florida on Key Biscayne.
3. Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse, Ponce Inlet

This lighthouse resides in Ponce Inlet of Volusia County.
4. Pensacola Lighthouse, Pensacola Bay

This Pensacola Bay lighthouse also has a museum.
5. Cape St. George Light, St. George Island

This lighthouse was on St. George Island for 153 years before collapsing into the Gulf of Mexico in 2005. Pieces were retrieved and the lighthouse was restored in 2008.

You can visit this lighthouse in Hillsboro Beach by boat through the Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society.
7. Cape Canaveral Lighthouse

Located one mile inland from Cape Canaveral, this is one of the best lighthouse in Florida to visit. It was built in 1848 to serve as a warning of the dangerous shoals off the coast.

Key West Lighthouse first opened in 1848 and its keeper at the time was a woman, which was highly uncommon back then.

11. Sand Key Lighthouse, Monroe County

12. Dry Tortugas Light, Loggerhead Key

What are some of the best coastal places to visit in Florida?

With 1,350 miles of coastline, Florida has numerous coastal attractions for visitors to enjoy. On Merritt Island, learn about space exploration at the world-renowned Kennedy Space Center and get an up-close and personal look at space shuttles. Head to Duval Street in Key West, one of the most famous streets in the state with numerous shops, restaurants, and bars to enjoy. These are just two notable coastal places to visit out of thousands. 

What are the most important Florida landmarks to visit?

Florida has many National Historic Landmarks that have played significant roles in the state’s history. Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales has been open since 1929 and is filled with over 250 acres of beautiful natural grounds. The focal point of the gardens is the singing tower, a 200-foot tall carillon with 60 bells. In Key West, the Ernest Hemingway House was where the author lived from 1931-1939, and it’s across the street from the Key West Lighthouse. It is now a private museum and a National Historic Landmark.
