Steinhatchee is located on Florida's on the Gulf Coast in Florida's beautiful Big Bend Region. It sits about 20 miles north of Cross City. Although this town only has a population around 1,000, it has been called "The Best Kept Secret In Florida." Let's look at a few reasons why.
If you want to experience an authentic slice of Old Florida, this is the place. In the 19th century, the town hosted a booming foresting industry, with cedar being especially popular for making pencils.
Because of its growth during this time, you can now find beautiful Victorian homes dotting its shoreline. Some have even been converted into B&Bs and vacation rentals. This area is also famous for its fishing and scalloping opportunities.
