Here in Florida, everyone loves the beach, but the cool blue water and lush scenery of our springs are a worthy alternative for nature lovers of all ages.
Ginnie Springs, a privately operated park on the scenic Santa Fe River near High Springs (about a 30-minute drive from Gainesville), has long been one of the area's most beloved natural attractions.
Summer may be coming to an end in other states, but here in the Sunshine State, we still have plenty of time to enjoy our favorite warm weather activities (like swimming, tubing, kayaking, snorkeling, and scuba diving) that this park is known for.
Don't be surprised if the beauty of this natural water park makes you want to stay a while. Luckily for us, Ginnie Springs offers both primitive and electric sites for camping, as well as a quaint little cottage that can accommodate up to eight people.
Ginnie Springs is open year-round, with extended hours in the summertime. A day of admission (8:00 a.m. until half an hour before sundown) costs $15 for adults and $4 for children ages 6 to 12.
Prices may be higher on major holidays/holiday weekends, and no pets are allowed in the park. Unlike most state parks, this location does allow alcohol, so families with children might be more comfortable visiting on a weekday.
