It Was So Cold In Florida In 1894, Temperatures Reached Below Freezing

It probably isn’t a common occurrence for you to hear the words “freezing” and “Florida” in the same sentence. However, there have been quite a few instances throughout Florida’s history where temperatures reached below freezing. Does anyone else remember when Tampa froze over on December 13, 1962, when the temperature fell to 18 degrees?! What about on January 19, 1977, when snow fell in South Florida for the very first time? Well, if you thought those winter weather events in Florida couldn’t be beaten, think again. Back in December 1894, some of the coldest temperatures were ever recorded throughout the state.
