Just because it probably won’t snow here, doesn’t mean we can’t have some amazing Christmas celebrations. All across the state, towns light up with holiday spirit. Some towns, however, really go all out during the most wonderful time of the year. Here are some of our favorites:
1. St. Augustine
Nights of Lights: The nation's oldest city is lit up in one of the greatest holiday displays in the country. There will also be various events throughout the entire celebration. November 21 - December 31st
Christmas Parade: December 6th, 10am, Mission Nombre De Dios
Christmas in Toyland Holiday Inn Tours: December 12 & 13, 1-5pm, $30
Captiva Holiday Village: This tropical southwest Florida island is hosting festive extravaganzas of sight and sound every weekend, including a luminary (Dec. 5th), boat parade (Dec. 12th), holiday sing (Dec. 13th) and golf cart parade (Dec. 19th). It's sure to be Christmas in paradise.
Where/When: November 27th through December 26th, various locations on Captiva Island.
3. West Palm Beach
Sandi Land: "Sandi" is a 35-foot Christmas tree made of sand. When: December 3-31,
West Palm Beach Waterfront. This event features light and music shows every 15 minutes starting at 6:30 p.m. every night, as well as holiday concerts every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Snow Fest Sarasota: Giant snow slides, pony rides, pictures with Santa, snowman building, giant snow globe, Live Shows including Candy Cane Hula-Hoopers and Jelly Bean Jugglers, DJ Grinch, vendors and more.
Where/When: December 18th - 20th, Noon to 10 p.m., Ringling Shopping Center, 170 Shopping Avenue
Santa's Enchanted Forest: The World's Largest Holiday Theme Park, featuring over 100 rides, shows, games and attractions. When/Where: Oct 29th through January 3rd, 5 p.m. to midnight, Tropical Park, Miami
Tree lighting: December 4th, 6pm
Santa Fest: December 5th, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., Waterfront Park
Downtown Parade: Starts at Morgan Street and Madison Street at 11 a.m.
Ybor City's Snow on 7th Parade: December 12th, 7 p.m.
Celebration of Lights at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park: Sebastian’s Winter Wonderland, a spectacular synchronized light and sound show, as well as other entertainment and refreshments. When: December 19th through 24th, as well as an after-Christmas party on the 26th.
Holiday Happenings at Brevard Zoo: Animal encounters, games, crafts and a DJ, as well as visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
When: December 19th - 22nd. Visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus: 9-11 a.m. on the 19th and 12:30-2:30 p.m. on the 20th and 21st.
Candy Cane Parade: Imaginative floats, marching bands and creative displays from all kinds of local businesses and organizations light up the town.
Where/When: Hollywood Beach Boardwalk, 7 p.m., beginning at Scott Street
Pensacola Winterfest: Falling snow, hot chocolate, holiday performances and trolly rides.
Where/When: November 27, December 5, 11, 18, 19 and 20.
Christmas parade: December 12th.
Santa's Express Tours: December 21st through 23rd.
