The Ancient Forest In Florida That’s Right Out Of A Storybook
Despite Florida being known for its beaches and endlessly rewarding sunsets, there is so much to see if you just go a little bit inland to where more of the nature action is. Florida is riddled with what are known as “old-growth forests” which are forests that have trees which have reached significant age with little to no disturbances. This particular ancient forest in Florida is as beautiful as they come, with plush vegetation, tons of wildlife not to mention the earth’s largest ancient virgin bald cypress forest. Sounds like something right out of a storybook…

Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is one of the most beautiful old-growth forests in Florida.
On a 2.5-mile hike, you’ll be able to see not only the beautiful cypress but also the wet prairies, stunning marshland, and a whole slew of magical wildlife creatures.
You can visit Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary from 7am-5:30pm every day of the year. Last admission to the sanctuary will be allowed one hour before closing time. Admission fees do apply, and there are specific rules of the boardwalk in order to keep the Sanctuary as beautifully preserved as it is. To find out the rules and admission prices, click here.
