As a way to break up West Virginia's winter weather, we love to fill our calendars full of local attractions, festivals, and any sort of seasonal fun that we can get our hands on during this time of year! With more and more snow beginning to fall in areas around the Mountain State, you may be beginning to anticipate some of your favorite annual events. This February, see what awaits you at the annual Toboggan Festival in Preston County.
Part of the small town of Bruceton Mills, the Chestnut Ridge Park is the annual host of West Virginia's Toboggan Festival.
Open all year long and made up of over 12,000-acres, this adventurous locale is one place where you'll find people from all around Preston County and beyond making their way out to this park during the wintertime to enjoy all sorts of fun outdoor activities.
Every February though, the park hosts a toboggan festival that's one of the best family-friendly winter events you'll find in the Mountain State.
West Virginians from all around come out and gather to go soaring down the park's main sledding and toboggan hill.
Throughout the day, you'll find people in their own toboggans — or ones that they've rented from the park's office — flying down hill...
...as fast as they can go, even enjoying games of toboggan limbo where you can put your skills to the test!
When you're in need of a break from all that sledding, you can head to the warming hutto to gather around a fire or grab some snacks, hot chocolate, and coffee from the office.
While the festival will also bring in other fun things like a reindeer rodeo, which is always a hit at Chestnut Ridge Park!
Whether you use a toboggan, sled, or winter tube, you'll find people making their way down the hills of this park all day long at West Virginia's Toboggan Festival.
