Sequim is a delightful little city on the Olympic Peninsula that makes a fantastic vacation spot any time of year. But if you happen to be there in the summertime, you'll be able to experience lavender season at its finest. If you've never been to the Sequim Lavender Festival, make this the year you go.
Located in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains, Sequim happens to have the ideal conditions for growing lavender.
The first lavender farms began over 20 years ago, and now there are 10 of them in the area.
Lavender is known for its numerous health benefits, especially its healing and relaxing properties.
And walking through a lavender field is just as peaceful as it sounds.
Every July, the Sequim Lavender Festival offers the chance to get up-close-and-personal with the lavender fields.
This year's dates are July 19 - 21.
The festival is an ode to all things lavender,
Carrie Blake Community Park will host more than 150 crafts and lavender booths, a food court, live music, and entertainment for all ages.
If you like lavender products (and really, everyone should) you'll love the festival's vendors.
From soaps and lotions to syrups and candies, you'll find all kinds of locally made lavender goodness.
You won't find a festival like this anywhere else in Washington.
Come familiarize yourself with this spectacular part of the state.
The Sequim Lavender Festival is one of Washington's best summer events. If you go this year, make sure to enjoy a meal at Nourish while you're in town.
