Spend some time traveling through Washington and it won't take you long to see that our state is the most beautiful. But there are some sights that are so impressive, you know right away they'll stay with you for the rest of your days. These are 10 of ours.
1. The Hoh Rainforest
Until you've walked through this otherworldly place on the Olympic Peninsula, you can't fully comprehend how amazing it is that we have the most carefully preserved rainforest in the Northern Hemisphere right here in our state.
2. Palouse Falls
Western Washington may have more waterfalls, but it's this Eastern Washington gem that was declared the official state waterfall. It's definitely one of our most impressive.
3. The Skagit Valley in April
Go when the tulips are in bloom. It's life-changing.
4. Leavenworth during the holiday season
From late November to mid-February, Leavenworth transforms from a charming Bavarian village into an all-out winter wonderland. The first time you drive into town and see all those lights feels indescribable.
5. Mt. Rainier
We're lucky to have so many famous mountains in Washington, but there's just something special about seeing Rainier looming in the distance.
6. The Columbia River Gorge
Whether your first glimpse of the gorge is from a show at the Gorge Amphitheater or a drive down Highway 14, be prepared to be amazed. This is the kind of scene that leaves a lasting impression.
7. The view of the Palouse from Steptoe Butte State Park
If you've never seen this highly underrated part of Washington, make this the year you check it out.
8. The Diablo Lake Overlook
The North Cascades region on a sunny summer day really can't be beat, but this overlook is absolutely breathtaking.
9. The Seattle skyline from West Seattle at night
Pictures will never do this view justice. Walk along Harbor Avenue on a clear evening and you'll see what we mean.
10. The scenery from the San Juan Island ferries
... or the ferry to Bainbridge Island, or Whidbey Island... you get the idea. Every last one of them will make you realize how lucky you are to be a Washingtonian.
You've probably got plenty of your own special moments to add to this list. That's because Washington is a visually diverse and stunning place to live. Just look at this must-see list.
