Sun Valley Swim club was once a very popular spot during the 1960s in Madison, Tennessee. It was where young folks flocked during the humid months, where friends met for a summertime date, and where the tanning was fabulous. Located a bit far out off of Neely's Bend, the space, now long since abandoned, has become an eerie reminder of what once was. The city now uses the space for storage, but you won't be swimming here any time soon.
Located in the back of a well-kempt field, we believe the property is taken care of by the city.
Down the road a bit, you can see the remains of what once was a baseball diamond.
The old buildings are now surrounded by chainlink and utilized for storage.
Windows are boarded up, except for that one up there.
As you can see a bit better right here.
Inside the compound-like smattering of buildings you can see where the pool once was. It has long since been filled in and covered.
There were once washrooms and changing rooms for the patrons of the swim club.
If you know the story of the Sun Valley Swim club, or have memories from yesteryear? We would love to hear!
Have you driven by? It's an eerie thing.
