Celebrate nature - and the firefly - at the PA Firefly Festival, slated for Saturday, June 24, 2017 from noon to midnight at the Black Caddis Ranch B&B in Tionesta.
Bring the whole family to this unique festival that will feature a full day of events focusing on the firefly or - as many of us fondly refer to them - lightning bugs.
Learn more about fireflies, Allegheny National Forest, and nature at the Nature Center, which will feature educational exhibits, experts, and vendors from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Participate in hands-on activities and take a break with a snack or a meal from one of the food trucks.
Bring your favorite lawn chair or blanket so you can kick back and watch the live entertainment, set for 12:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Scheduled performers include Matt Miskie, Rob Alexander, and Angel Blue.
Watch the kids as they participate in the many kids' activities, including posing as a firefly for photos, which run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The day culminates with a guided firefly walk, which is already full. However, you can still view the scores of fireflies when they come out at night by waiting at the campfire for a spot to open or by...
Grabbing a map at the festival and embarking on your own firefly walk with other festival-goers.
Forgo the drive home until the next morning by pitching a tent at one of the nearby primitive camping sites, including Kellettville Campground which is just a mile from the festival site.
Park on site at the B&B for a five dollar donation with all proceeds going to the PA Firefly Festival.
