Portland, Oregon is known for its beauty and kind residents. What most people don't know is that it harbors some very creepy and bone-chilling places. Here's a list of the most haunted places in Portland:
1. Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery
It doesn’t take very much to make a cemetery disturbing. Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery is gigantic and holds over thousands of unmarked graves. Ghosts of lost souls have been seen endlessly roaming the burial grounds.
2. Hollywood Theatre
The beloved Hollywood Theatre has been open since 1926.
It has been said that Hollywood Theatre movie attendees have spotted a ghost of a man who roams the lobby and a strange woman who sits in the back row of the theatre.
3. McMenamins - White Eagle Saloon
McMenamin’s White Eagle Saloon has been said to have had sightings of multiple phantoms, from a call girl named Rose to the souls of innocent people kidnapped via Portland’s infamous Shanghai tunnels. Additionally, there was once a bartender/cool, named Sam Warrick, that worked there pre-prohibition. It is said that his soul lingers and causes mischief through the bar.
4. Old Town Pizza
Old Town Pizza was once a hotel called Old Town’s Merchant Hotel, and that’s where a well-known Portland apparition, "Nina," met her demise. Nina’s soul has refused to leave and has been lingering at the pizzeria for over 100 years.
5. Shanghai Tunnels a.k.a. Portland Underground
Under Old Town Pizza are the Shanghai Tunnels, which were underground routes to kidnap and move men and women into human trafficking. As a result, many innocent people died and their sorrowful souls have roamed the tunnels ever since.
6. McMenamins - Edgefield
Before McMenamins built the glorious and uplifting hotel/venue that is Edgefield, it used to be a home to sick, poor, and homeless people that would work for their stay. Opening in the 1900s, it became incredibly populous and as a result, people would die from sickness and natural causes. Those who passed are said to have been seen in the hotel rooms at Edgefield, wandering about.
