The Land of Oz is actually right here in Ohio.
Well, sort of. The small city of Macedonia in northeast Ohio hosts an annual festival that makes you feel as if you've stepped foot into the beloved Wizard of Oz family film, filled with friendly characters, flying monkeys and ruby red slippers. This is one truly unique festival you don't want to miss.
One magical weekend in September, Longwood Park in Macedonia transforms into Emerald City, with the yellow brick road leading the way.
Longwood Park is located at 1520 East Aurora Rd., Macedonia, OH 44056.
This year's festival takes place on September 28 - 30. Pictured are the Dorothy's from last year's costume contest.
The festival takes place on Friday from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Admission includes entertainment at both the Emerald City Stage and the Munchkinland Theater. Tickets are $9.50 for the full weekend, $7.50 for 2-day admission and $5.00 for 1-day admission.
You can purchase tickets in advance online here, or you can purchase a 1-day ticket at the festival.
You'll likely spot a few versions of your favorite character, as costumes are popular at the Ohio Wizard of Oz Festival.
Enjoy festival games, make-and-take craft stations, food trucks, vendors and more at this one-of-a-kind festival.
This is one festival the whole family will love—so mark your calendars and follow the yellow brick road.
