What better way to shop for antiques than in an antique place itself? This unique and awesome spot in North Dakota has the best of both worlds. It's got the historic setting and is filled to the brim with vintage items. If you love antiquing, this place is a must-see. Head out to this small Peace Garden State town and you'll see why:
In the small town of Hankinson, North Dakota, there is quite a bit of history.
Hankinson is located in the southeast region of the state near Wahpeton in Richland County. It was founded in 1886 and has had a rich history since then. Today, its population is at 899.
Like most North Dakota towns, the railroad goes through, but where the grain elevators and train area is today used to be the location of a train depot.
The century-old original Soo Line train depot has been relocated and restored into the Antique Depot.
The train depot was originally built in 1902 and served the area as a hub for more than just travel. Not only did the huge building contain the depot, it also had a restaurant and cream can service. It was scheduled to be demolished but was saved, relocated, and restored into what it is today.
Today the Antique Depot isn't full of train passengers, but instead thousands of antiques you can browse.
This place is full of more antiques than you can count, and all of them are available for sale. Furniture, knick-knacks, glassware, toys — you name it, they probably have it. The ages of these items range many years and it would probably take you an entire afternoon to explore them all.
It doesn't get much cooler than browsing antiques in an antique place with a fascinating history, and the Antique Depot is exactly that.
The Antique Depot is located at 16676 94th 1/2 St SE, Hankinson, North Dakota 58041.
