We all know that the Empire State is a beautiful place. Anyone who's taken the gorgeous trip down State Route 97 knows that it's one of the most scenic drives in New York. It can be a little scary with all those twists and curves, but the views are totally worth any motion sickness! The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway will take you 70 miles through Delaware, Sullivan, and Orange Counties. No matter what time of year, the view is incredible. State Route 97 (also known as the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway) has long been a popular scenic drive. This postcard from sometime in the 1930s or early 1940s shows the road winding alongside the Delaware River.

The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway was designated by then-Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932.
