Haunted houses aren’t just for Halloween. Mississippi’s most haunted house, McRaven is open all year for tours. But that's not the only option for visiting McRaven and its phantom inhabitants. The infamous home also hosts monthly ghost investigations and even offers the option of booking the home for private investigations. Read on for all the creepy details.

Equal parts historic and eerie, McRaven sits behind a set of wrought iron gates on Harrison Street in Vicksburg.

It’s garnered a lot of attention since opening to the public in 1961.

National Geographic dubbed McRaven the “Time Capsule of the South” because it was built in three different time periods, which is evident since, as each new section was added, the previous wasn’t updated.

Furthermore, it’s lavishly furnished with museum-quality antiques, including a pioneer kitchen.

However, McRaven is most known for a more sinister reason...

...being named Mississippi's "Most Haunted House” - a notion that’s attracted the attention of a multitude of publications and networks, including A&E and The Travel Channel, which recently dubbed it the “Creepiest Place in Mississippi.”

It’s also attracted countless paranormal investigators. And because of the growing interest in the home’s haunted happenings, McRaven started hosting monthly ghost investigations.

The investigation lasts several hours and is extremely hands-on, meaning guests get to do things like operate equipment and attempt to question McRaven’s ghostly inhabitants.

If you can’t make it to one of McRaven’s monthly ghost investigations, you can always book a private one – during which, you’ll have exclusive access to the entire home.

Don’t think you’re brave enough for a full-on ghost investigation? No problem. McRaven also offers historic tours as well as haunted tours – complete with theatrical guides in time period costumes.
