If you’re familiar with Michigan history, you might be aware of the Felt Mansion. In fact, we’ve covered this West Michigan icon in previous articles, as its historical relevance, unique backstory, and beautiful design are genuinely fascinating. This spooky season, though, the Felt Mansion is offering a new opportunity for those who prefer to lean into the eerier side of history: an overnight excursion.
The Felt Mansion is located at 6597 138th Ave in Holland.
Completed in 1928, this stunning estate once housed the family of Dorr E. Felt, a successful inventor and businessman who chose to construct a mansion near Lake Michigan.
Sadly, Dorr’s wife died in the house just months after moving in - with Dorr himself passing away two years later. These early deaths added a sense of darkness to the estate.
Throughout the years, the mansion has served as everything from a home for Augustinian nuns to a state police post. It’s also gained a reputation as a hotbed for paranormal activity.
Today, the estate is a popular wedding and event venue. This October, though, brave visitors will have the unique chance to explore its spookier side with overnight stays.
When you choose to arrive, you’ll chat with a Felt employee and a psychic medium who will offer insight into mansion lore. Stays extend from 3 p.m. until 10 the next morning.
Up to 12 people can stay at once and groups will enjoy access to the grounds, the carriage house, and accommodations in the mansion. You might just find it difficult to sleep.
Whether you’re a full-blown believer in ghosts or a brave adventurer searching for a fun October excursion, a night at the Felt Mansion will surely leave you spectacularly spooked.
