Tom + Chee started from the ground up at a food cart in downtown Cincinnati.
After opening up a storefront nearby, they soon expanded and opened up Tom + Chee 2.0 right across the river in Newport, Kentucky.
The menu is posted up on the wall behind the counter and can be a bit overwhelming, but in a good way.
You can play it safe with a simple sandwich and tomato soup, or go for it with one of their incredibly unique and mouthwatering creations.
The interior of the Newport location is bright and cheery and centrally located within the fun of Newport on the Levee.
On a nice day, you can also choose to eat outside on the patio which boasts beautiful views of downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River.
Of course, the food is what brings patrons to this popular sandwich shop.
Tom + Chee is home of the famous Grilled Cheese Donut, which sounds weird, but tastes incredible.
Or, you can go more traditional with a cheesy sandwich alongside a "dipper" size of their tasty tomato soup.
The restaurant also fills their sandwiches with a wide array of toppings, piles grilled cheese atop salads and offers various soups throughout the year.
And don't forget dessert. The S'more includes a grilled donut with graham cracker, chocolate, and marshmallow mascarpone.
