The Loess Hills Lavender Farm grows thousands of beautiful lavender plants and when the flowers reach their peak, the farm throws a big party. One of the most popular annual events in the Loess Hills, LavenderStock is back and if you love beautiful flowers and the enchanting smell of lavender, it's an event you have to put on your calendar. The farm opens for the 2024 season on May 4th, but it's all building towards the big lavender festival taking place on July 15th and 16th. U-pick lavender, interactive activities, live music, and more await guests. Here's the scoop on this year's LavenderStock.
You'll find the festival at the Loess Hills Lavender Farm, which is located in western Iowa, about 35 minutes north of Omaha. The farm started growing lavender in 2009 and it held its first festival in 2015 - it always takes place the third Saturday of July.
The farm has about 15 acres of gorgeous lavender. Every year the farm draws hundreds of visitors, including lavender fans from around the globe. It's a big hit with the birds and butterflies!
The festival draws about 50 art and craft vendors, selling everything from photography to watercolor paintings and barbed wire sculptures. There will also be food vendors and live music.
Of course, lavender will be center stage at the event.
The farm produces a variety of lavender products, including lavender balms, lotions, soaps, bath salts and gels.
While you are at the farm, stop by the gift shop - it has the work of local artisans as well as plenty of lavender products for sale.
The Loess Hills Lavender Farm is owned by Mary and Tim Hamer. They are passionate about lavender and continue to make investments in the farm that help their lavender plants flourish. If you can't make the festival, the farm offers tours and its gift shop is open to visitors seasonally. The shop showcases the work of dozens of local artisans and has plenty of wonderful lavender products for sale.
