Fall is my favorite season, not just because of the cooler temperatures and changing leaf colors, but also because of the great festivals! Indiana holds a ton of great festivals in the fall, so to make things easier, we've compiled a small list of some of the most notable harvest festivals to check out in the Hoosier state.

1. Cory Apple Festival —

Cory (Sept. 22-24)

This delightful apple festival is a great way to welcome fall. The events kick off with a Fireman's breakfast, flea market, and carnival rides. This fest also includes a cornhole tournament, silly safari animal show, live music, fireworks, a hairbanger's ball, and helicopter rides. Learn more here and check it out in downtown Cory.

2. Festival of the Turning Leaves — Thorntown (Sept. 22-24)

Celebrate the changing season and the beauty of fall foliage at this awesome festival. Travel + Leisure has dubbed this the best festival in Indiana and it's easy to see why. There's a 5k and 10k walk/run, wild and crazy games, movie night, fireworks, pizza contests, cornhole, a parade, a talent show, live music, a car show, and so much more. 3. Wanatah Scarecrow Festival — Wanatah (Sept. 22-24)

Nothing says fall quite like scarecrows. This unique festival actually lets you sculpt your very own scarecrow. There are contests, carnival food, kiddie rides, a car show, a tractor show, live music, and much more. Get the full scoop here and find it on Main Street in Wanatah.

4. Persimmon Festival —

Mitchell (Sept. 23-30)

Indiana is well known for persimmons (particularly in baked goods), some come celebrate this delicious fruit in downtown Mitchell. Events include a scavenger hunt, Persimmon Idol, a candle light tour, parade, community yard sale, live music, food, and so much more. Keep up to date here and find it in downtown Mitchell.

5. Rocky Ripple Festival —

Indianapolis

Enjoy great local blues, rock, and swing music, as well as handmade crafts, local food, and a fun kids area. You can learn more here and find it at Hoyt Park 840 W 53rd St, Indianapolis, Indiana.

6. Feast of the Hunter's Moon — Lafayette (Sept. 30 - Oct. 1)

This unique festival reenacts the annual autumn gathering that took place at Fort Ouiatenon between the French and Native Americans in the 1700s. This place was a fur trading post and every year during this festival, the area takes visitors back in time to the 1700s. Enjoy traditional food, military demonstrations, and much more. 7. Jasper County Tourism Commission — Rensselaer (Sept. 30)

Celebrate the season with German and American food, as well as local wines and seasonal beers. Enjoy live music and a day full of fun during this classic festival. Learn more here and find it at the Jasper County Courthouse Square, 115 W Washington Street, Rensselaer, IN.

8. Oktoberfest — Richmond (Sept. 30)

Welcome the month of October at this awesome festival. Enjoy a day fulll of brats, beer, music, games, races, and crafts. There's also a huge street fair with local vendors to explore. Learn more here and find it in downtown Richmond.

9. Oktoberfest — Seymour

This historic fall festival has been running for more than 40 years. This festival has a Bier Garten, flea market, carnival, contests, races, dancing, live music, and so much more. Learn more here and find it at 2nd and Walnut Street in Seymour, IN.

10. Metamora Canal Days Autumn Festival — Metamora (Oct. 6-8)

This canal festival offers great food, live music, and tons of booths where you can find art, antiques, and other handmade goods. Learn more here and find it in downtown Metamora, IN.

11. Covered Bridge Festival — Rockville (Oct. 13-22)

This huge festival is one almost all Hoosier look forward to all year long. Explore the historic covered bridges of Parke County while enjoying local art, food, handmade goods, and more. Learn more here.
