Is there any sweet that screams Christmas more than gingerbread (okay, candy canes, maybe)? Building gingerbread houses and baking gingerbread cookies is a Christmas tradition for many Hoosiers - it's just not the holidays without gingerbread! That's why this magical gingerbread festival in Indiana is one you're not going to want to miss.
Every year, the History Center in Fort Wayne draws in huge crowds for their annual Gingerbread Festival. This scrumptious festival features hundreds of gingerbread creations from Hoosiers of all ages.
Of course, you'll find dozens of traditional gingerbread houses, just on a grander scale, like this lovely submission dubbed Cookie Friends.
Houses can also be more creative, like this delicious looking pink peppermint and gingerbread candy castle.
You'll also find more intricate designs, like this highly detailed structure that almost looks too stunning to eat (almost...).
Of course, there's no limit on how creative and outside the box you can go, as proven by this unbelievable Star Wars themed gingerbread display.
There are also a ton of gingerbread themed activities that go along with this event. Saturday showcases the Gingerbread Pursuit 4-mile run as well as the Science of Sugary Structures, where kids can create sturdy (or not so sturdy) structures that they can later eat. Sunday's event is a full on cookie decorating party to help bring this event to a close.
For a unique event unlike other holiday celebrations this season, be sure to check out the Fort Wayne Gingerbread Festival. Tickets are $6 per adult, $3 per child under 17, and $3 per senior citizens (over 65). You'll find this celebration at The History Center, 302 East Berry Street Fort Wayne, IN 46802.
Will you be checking out this epic gingerbread festival this weekend? For another incredible Indiana holiday festival, check out this epic winter walk lights display.
