Along with the immense history and old houses here in Georgia are stories of ghosts and hauntings. There are some truly terrifying places in Georgia, and not suprisingly most of them on my top list here are located in Savannah, Georgia. Here is a list of the 9 most terrifying places in Georgia.
1. Warren House in Jonesboro, Georgia
This old house that resides in Clayton County, Georgia, was once a hospital to confederate soldiers during the Civil War. Some people say that they see the ghost of a soldier haunting the grounds, and sometimes you just may see his ghastly face peering through the windows!
2. Tybee Island Lighthouse in Savannah, Georgia
This lighthouse is actually the fourth lighthouse built in this spot as the past three were destroyed by storms and shore erosion. People have reported seeing ghostly figures dressed in lightkeeper's clothing and a 5 year little girl warning people not to go into the lighthouse. Other have reported hearing whistling and other sounds.
3. 432 Abercorn Street in Savannah, Georgia
This old house has plenty of rumors surrounding it! Some say they can see a ghost of a little girl running around the house. Others say that when they photograph the house, their cameras mysteriously fail to work and when they leave the premises, their cameras work again.
4. The Pirates House in Savannah, Georgia
The Pirates' House was an actual pirates tavern in the 18th century. Some say you can catch a glimpse of the pirate of Treasure Island, Captain Flint. Legend has it that Captain Flint died at this place. Sometimes the Savannah Community Theatre will hold murder mystery shows here.
5. Moon River Brewing Company in Savannah, Georgia
This brewery in Savannah, Georgia is a favorite among locals and visitors, however employees are convinced its haunted! Staff have reported attacks, dark mysterious figures, and even possessions from angry spirits. That's not a place one would want to work!
6. Chetoogeta Tunnel in Tunnel Hill, Georgia
The Chetoogeta Tunnel was created in 1850 and used until 1928. Since then it has been abandoned and overgrown with vines. It was once the site of many confederate battles and has seen its fair share of blood and gore. It is said that the ghosts of confederate soldiers can be seen along with the smell of rotting flesh!
7. Colonial Park Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia
A cemetery is always kinda creepy and spooky and this one is no different! This huge 6 acre cemetery holds 9,000 graves. Visitors have reported seeing ghosts including a floating couple.
8. East Bay Inn in Savannah, Georgia
Yet another spooky place in Savannah, Georgia! The old ghost of Charlie, a former worker at East Bay Inn, fell to his death from a third story room. Room 325 is Charlie's room and visitors are recorded in the inn's logs as saying they've seen the lights flicker, their personal objects disappear, and their doorknobs wiggle.
9. Kehoe House in Savannah, Georgia
Yet another beautiful and frightening house in Savannah! The Kehoe House was a Queen-Ann style mansion built for William Kehoe in 1892. It is said to be home to quite a few haunts, including the ghosts of a little girl and the Lady in Gray. However, the Lady in Gray is known to be a friendly spirit with visitors reporting the ghost stroking their hand or cheek.
