Bucket lists are a great resource when you need a "plan B." How do I know this? Because I personally experienced it recently. And let's face it, sometimes you're really not interested in a plan B. However, if you're willing to keep an open mind and attempt to make the best of a bad situation, you just may be pleasantly surprised at the outcome. This was what I was reminded of by a plan B day trip in Georgia to a charming roadside market when the weather ruined plan A, which had been in the works and highly anticipated for months. The end result of this day trip in Georgia, though, was the discovery of the Wagon Barn Market, a place you'll love if you're a fan of unique shopping spots with incredible homemade goods!

The Wagon Barn Market is located alongside U.S. Route 25 which runs in Georgia's eastern region from Brunswick along the southern coastline north all the way to Augusta. Keysville is a tiny town west of this route about 23 miles from Augusta. Its population was only 315 as of 2021, and it made the OIYS list of Georgia towns with the lowest cost of living.

My husband is a truck driver and has passed by this market many times while driving. He has mentioned it several times in the past and that it looked like a spot we might like to check out sometime. We decided this GA day trip was in order once we cancelled our Plan A camping trip due to forecasts calling for potentially dangerous inclement weather.

When I stepped inside the market and began walking around, it felt like I'd suddenly taken a little trip back in time. The market is owned and run by a Mennonite family. My eyes were immediately drawn to the corner of the store closest to the entrance with beautiful handmade furniture, aprons, and other goodies.

As I walked to the corner to further explore, I noticed a map on the wall with pins placed by visitors marking the location they had traveled from. People from different parts of the world have discovered this neat little spot in Georgia!

Next to this corner, the wall is lined with delicious homemade jams and jellies, dressings, salsas, sauces, and more, followed by a wall full of frozen meals you can heat up and serve.

The toe jam was hard to resist (especially as a funny gift idea), but I left with a tasty blueberry vinaigrette dressing. My son picked out Awesome Sauce, which he's eaten on a sandwich and salad, and my daughter vanilla peaches to take home from our day trip in Georgia.

There are all kinds of neat, one-of-a-kind food items to consider, including flavored ketchups.

In the next corner of the store, there's a deli area with meats, cheeses, homemade cakes and pies (which one customer drives from Augusta to purchase for holidays) ...

... and a variety of grab-and-go sandwiches.

Along with that sandwich, you can choose from a selection of different teas, interesting ciders such as red cherry, and other drinks.

In every corner of the Wagon Barn Market, you'll find unique delights. It's a wonderful place to find something for yourself or when gift shopping.

This little market is about an hour and a half drive from our home in South Carolina, but it was well worth the drive! It's not surprising it's top-rated on Google.We also stopped by the Augusta location of The Pie Hole and enjoyed delicious from-scratch pies, also well worth a visit! It offers personal pie sizes (no pie slices) as well as regularly-sized pies. It's best to call ahead for what's available or arrive early for the best selection.
