The Hidden Castle In Florida That Almost No One Knows About

A hidden medieval-style castle built by Bruce Woods over 30 years is located in Wellington, Florida.

You never know what you're going to find when you walk through the woods, but a hidden castle is pretty extraordinary, even for Florida.

Hiding in a wooded area in Palm Beach County, there's something you don't expect to see in Florida: A medieval castle.

The castle was built over the last 30 years by one man, Bruce Woods. He hopes to have the project finally finished this year.

The four-bedroom castle has three bathrooms and lots of space, occupying over 4,400 square feet. It even has a matching 3-car garage.

The castle is located in Wellington, near West Palm Beach, but we don't advise anyone to try to explore it without permission. Like most castles, it is well protected (in this case it's with guard dogs and an electric fence.)

So why a castle? Woods saw a picture of the ruins of the Lohort Castle in Ireland (pictured below) in a book and figured he could build something similar.

So he bought a few acres in rural Palm Beach County before the area was part of Wellington and slowly started making his dream a reality. Now, three decades later, there are a few neighbors nearby. The castle still has plenty of room, however, as it sits on five acres in front of a wildlife preserve.

As you can see from these photos from Zillow, the castle looks pretty modern on the inside. (It isn't on the market now, but at some point it possibly could be.)

The real estate site Zillow estimated its worth at over $1.2M. Not too bad for one man's passion project.

What do you think about this castle hiding in Florida? What would your dream home look like?
